The all-new, seventh-generation 2026 Subaru Outback is available now at
Hello Subaru of Temecula,
giving Riverside County drivers a taller, SUV-styled evolution of
Subaru’s longtime wagon with the same all-weather confidence that made
it a favorite for coastal drives and weekend escapes. It’s a genuinely
ground-up redesign — and it shows in the safety results, too: the 2026
Outback earned an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, acing every single crash
test under IIHS’s toughest-ever 2026 criteria. Explore our Outback
inventory below and get answers to the questions we hear most from
Temecula-area shoppers.
The 2026 Outback is a complete redesign, not a refresh — it moves from
its traditional wagon silhouette to a taller, boxier SUV-inspired shape
that’s about two inches taller than before, adding real headroom and
cargo space. Every model gets a new 12.1-inch touchscreen paired with a
12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and Subaru brought back physical
climate control buttons and knobs after feedback on the outgoing
model’s touch-only controls. The old Base trim is gone; Premium is now
the entry point with more standard equipment than before.
The 2026 Outback lineup includes six trims across two engine families:
| Trim | Engine | Horsepower | MPG (City/Hwy) | Key Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | 2.5L Boxer | 180 hp | 25 / 31 | 12.1″ STARLINK touchscreen, 12.3″ digital cluster, standard EyeSight & AWD |
| Limited | 2.5L Boxer | 180 hp | 25 / 31 | Leather-trimmed seating, premium audio, heated rear seats, wireless charging, moonroof |
| Touring | 2.5L Boxer | 180 hp | 25 / 31 | Nappa leather, heated & ventilated front seats, enhanced EyeSight with Hands-Free Driving Assist |
| Limited XT | 2.4L Turbo Boxer | 260 hp | 21 / 29 | Limited feature set plus turbo power, 19″ wheels, 360° surround-view monitor |
| Touring XT | 2.4L Turbo Boxer | 260 hp | 21 / 29 | Most upscale Outback cabin, paired with the turbocharged engine |
| Wilderness | 2.4L Turbo Boxer | 260 hp | 21 / 27 | 9.5″ ground clearance, all-terrain tires, electronically controlled dampers, dual-mode X-MODE, aluminum skid plate |
2.5L trims (Premium, Limited, Touring) tow up to 2,700 lbs; turbocharged trims (Limited XT, Touring XT, Wilderness) tow up to 3,500 lbs. See our current Outback inventory above for trim-by-trim pricing.
The standard 2.5-liter Boxer engine produces 180 hp and 178
lb-ft of torque, with EPA estimates up to 25 city / 31 highway
MPG. Step up to a turbocharged trim and output jumps to 260 hp
and 277 lb-ft of torque, with towing capacity rising from
2,700 lbs to 3,500 lbs. Both engines route through Subaru’s Lineartronic
CVT with an 8-speed manual-shift mode via steering-wheel paddles, and
every Outback comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and up to
9.5 inches of ground clearance on the Wilderness — enough confidence
for a Big Bear trip or the daily commute through Murrieta and Menifee
alike.
Every 2026 Outback trim comes standard with Subaru’s EyeSight Driver
Assist Technology, including Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane
Centering and Emergency Stop Assist. Under IIHS’s tougher 2026 testing
criteria — which for the first time requires a “Good” rating in an
updated moderate overlap front crash test with a rear-seat dummy — the
Outback earned a
TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the IIHS,
scoring “Good” across every single evaluation.
